Avast users cannot upgrade Windows 10 April 2018 Update
Although it was nearly a month later than originally scheduled, the Windows 10 April 2018 update did not become more stable. Recently, media reported that the new bug will lead to a black screen after the system completes the upgrade. From the initial situation, this problem seems to be caused by Avast’s anti-virus software.
Many users on the well-known community Reddit have encountered the same problem. This can prove that Avast antivirus product and Windows 10 April 2018 update have the compatibility problem, the end user can only solve this problem through reinstalling.
Systems running Avast Anti-Virus products upgrade Windows 10 through Windows Update After April 2018, there are three boot options, including Windows Rollback, and Windows 10 on Volume appearing twice.
The first option will trigger a reboot, while the second/three options will try to complete the upgrade and reboot, but regardless of entering which will show a black screen effect.
“Thus far, the only solution we have found is a Windows reinstall,” they posted. “It appears that everyone that has fallen victim to this problem has been using Avast Antivirus. However, this problem has only occurred on systems that attempted the 1803 upgrade in the last two days. This infers that a very recent update to Avast is interfering with the upgrade process. It appears to be damaging read/write permissions on the problem computers.”
