Firefox is testing to prevent websites from autoplaying videos with sound
Almost all users are very disgusted with the non-video website to automatically play audio and video content, especially when the external sound is turned on. Therefore, Google Chrome has already begun to block the automatic play audio function of the website, that is, the web page automatically filters the audio content if it tries to load audio and video.
The automatic mute function has become a must-have strategy for mainstream browsers, so Firefox is now finally testing the feature in the beta.
The Firefox browser tests the website that automatically plays the sound in the nightly build version. By default, if the site tries to play it will pop up a prompt to be confirmed by the user.
Of course, if some websites always pop up prompts to let you choose whether to play, you can also directly set to still prevent autoplay from interfering with you.
For video sites, you can set up to allow automatic playback so that you don’t have to confirm each time. These can be re-edited to set the playback in exceptional cases.
The specific settings are located in the Firefox browser nightly build: Options-> Privacy & Security -> For websites that autoplay sound.
We are adding the ability to block and configure autoplaying videos with sound in Firefox, can check it out in @FirefoxNightly today (comments welcome) pic.twitter.com/k9K9hQC9Ye
