Huawei Launches Cloud PC to run Windows 10 System on Android Smartphone
Although there are many incurable diseases in the Windows 10 system, it is naturally impossible for our work and life to completely disconnect the operating system. With the rise of mobile devices and the mobile Internet, people are more and more in demand on the mobile office, but the mobile version of Windows 10 is already cold. How to solve people’s demands for mobile office is also a problem that Huawei is thinking about, so the cloud-based Windows 10 solution emerged as the times require.
Huawei Cloud Computer began public display as early as April of this year. It has been interesting to draw attention to the CES2018 show held recently. In fact, the idea of a cloud-based operating system was long ago, and Microsoft has previously achieved similar results with its own Azure cloud service. Of course, it is more straightforward to say that, for example, the Windows Server server operating system is controlled by remote desktop, but it is barely in line with our definition.
However, after all, the actual user experience is so bad that no company actually provides services to operate the cloud Windows system from a mobile device.
The difference in experience here mainly refers to 1, subject to network speed operation will be delayed; 2, mobile device screen is too small, so the operation is not convenient. Huawei Cloud Computer is mainly based on two parts: 1. Windows 10 system based on cloud data centre; 2. Huawei’s remote desktop protocol.
This is Huawei’s solution at the CES2018 in Asia, allowing users to fully access remote Windows 10 systems via Android devices. Among them, Huawei Cloud-based Windows 10 virtual machines are used in the cloud. Mobile users need to install Huawei Remote Desktop applications to connect. The system supports the automatic expansion of Android to the full screen after connecting to the monitor via a data cable. This is also the reason why a worker in the video holds a mouse.
The mobile device in the Huawei cloud computer only serves as a transfer station function, which is equivalent to connecting the cloud operating system and the local display to the operation. Of course, if you like, you can use the Huawei desktop protocol to invoke the camera of the Android device and take a remote photo on the Windows 10 in the cloud.
In addition, remote Windows 10 computers based on the Huawei Remote Desktop Protocol can also access local files, that is, local files that can access Android devices.
Huawei’s picking of this point in time is also very interesting. In the previous article, we said that this type of cloud operating system is not only inconvenient in operating network connection delays. Just now, 5G networks have gradually begun to land, and with remote 5G network connections for remote operation, there will be almost no delay.
Therefore, Huawei’s approach has at least technically solved many problems, and the rest is the experience of using the small screen of a mobile device for actual operation. By the way, Huawei cloud computer only supports some of Huawei’s Android mobile devices. Whether or not it will support other brands of Android devices has no news yet.
In addition, it is only supported by users in mainland China and Hong Kong, but it is alleged that Huawei may promote the product to European business.
