Microsoft released the KB4090007 update to further mitigate the specter and Meltdown flaws
In a blog post updated today, Microsoft again announced Specter and Meltdown vulnerability fixes, along with system fixes and new firmware updates. Microsoft is currently patching 32-bit Windows 10 systems and is still struggling to provide updates to other currently supported versions.
Last week, Intel successfully fixed CPU flaws for 4th- and 5th-gen, 6th-gen, 7th-gen, and th-gen8 chips, and Microsoft announced today that users will be able to download Skylake microcode via Update Catalog. This update for the KB4090007, Microsoft stressed that it will continue to follow up the microcode released by Intel. Although Specter and Meltdown did not immediately fix the two vulnerabilities, they have gradually eased over time.
