Mozilla Firefox 60 ESR Released
Although the Mozilla Firefox 60 stable version of the official announcement date appears to be online tomorrow, you can already download this ESR (Extended Support Release) version through Mozilla’s FTP server. At present, GNU/Linux, Windows, and macOS platform editions are already available on the official FTP server. The most noteworthy new feature is the enhanced privacy protection of the camera.
Firefox will automatically shut down the computer’s webcam when the user’s face does not appear on the site’s recording. Although the camera is still available, it will ensure that these sites will not be recorded to you. The camera will continue to work again when you return to resume. When encountering some wonderful websites calling the camera privately and not starting the indicator on the camera, Firefox will force the camera indicator to turn on to remind the user to ensure that the device is still recording.
In order to improve landing security, Firefox 60 will also support web page authorization, allowing users to use USB tokens to authenticate users’ favorite websites. In addition, Firefox 60 also allows IT administrators to customize Firefox deployments in enterprise environments through a new policy engine.
In Firefox 60, Mozilla also added some new developer features: Including the previously promised IndexedDB exchange, and explicitly controlling whether a web page should be reloaded, this feature has been deployed through the Responsive Design Mode.
Firefox 60 will be Mozilla’s next ESR (Extended Support Version) branch, replacing the current Firefox 52 ESR series, which means that this version will deprecate the old version of the attachment component. Firefox 52 ESR will stop support on August 28, 2018.
