Windows 10 Redstone 5: Microsoft adds Phone-related APIs
Microsoft is planning to prepare a lot of new features for the upcoming Windows 10 RedStone 5 this fall. In addition to Sets and other features in the latest preview for the release of the Skip Ahead channel, Microsoft plans to enhance the compatibility between this desktop system and mobile phones.
The Windows 10 Build 17650 version discovered mobile-related APIs after intensive exploration, and these APIs were removed last year. Although the API for mobile phones is back in the Windows 10 system, this does not mean that Microsoft is building new phones based on Windows 10.
Microsoft had previously stated that it had decided to abandon the development of the mobile phone business without the support of market share. Therefore, the possibility of launching a new mobile phone is not large. Instead, companies may be exploring ways to better connect with other telephone devices, including Always-Connected PC running Windows 10 on the ARM.
These devices run the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, which already supports the mobile communications function from a technical point of view. Therefore, the upcoming RedStone 5 may be exploring the expansion of Always-Connected PC’s connection performance.
