Windows 10 will replace Snipping Tool with Screen Sketch

In the latest Windows 10 Redstone 5 preview, Microsoft sent a notification to the experiencer saying that the “Snipping Tool” that accompanies everyone for a long time is leaving and hopes everyone will use the new Screen Sketch function. It reports that when users start the screenshot tool, they will see the notification that the app will be removed in future updates.

At the same time, Microsoft advised everyone to “try improved features and snip like usual with Screen Sketch.”

Although the company has not disclosed the specific time yet, it hopes that this shift can occur quietly. After all, the mass base of the screenshot tool is still huge. Dona Sarkar, director of the Windows Insider project, said:

We are not planning to remove the Snipping Tool in the next update to Windows 10 and the consolidation work underway will be a feedback and data-driven decision.

It expects that the Windows 10 “Redstone 5” update will come in September this year, and Microsoft will release another batch of feature updates in the spring of 2019.

Screen Sketch is a new Windows 10 app available in the Microsoft Store that makes it possible to capture screenshots with all the tools bundled into Snipping Tool with a modern UI and extra features.

Also, the Screen Sketch function also supports a stylus and allows the user to start cropping with a simple click operation. Interested friends can check the download experience here.
