Canonical Releases Major Kernel Updates for Ubuntu 17.10
Canonical released major Linux kernel updates for the Ubuntu 17.10 (Artful Aardvark) operating system series, addressing more than 20 security vulnerabilities affecting the Linux 4.13 kernel.
This update fixes a total of 22 security vulnerabilities, including several free-use vulnerabilities in the Linux kernel’s ALSA PCM subsystem, network namespace implementations, and usage conditions in the OCFS2 file system implementation, as well as implementation as a race condition in loop block device implementation.
Also includes KVM implementation of Linux kernel, HugeTLB component, HMAC implementation, Netfilter component, keyring implementation, Netfilter passive operating system fingerprint printing (xt_osf) module, implementation of the Salsa20 encryption algorithm, Broadcom NetXtreme II Ethernet driver, reliable datagram socket (RDS ) Implementations, and bugs such as usbtest device drivers.
In addition, the kernel update addresses issues in the SoundGraph iMON USB, MS Passenger Control Unit USB, DiBcom DiB0700 USB DVB, ASIX Ethernet USB, CDC USB Ethernet and QMI WWAN USB drivers in the Linux kernel.
