Debian 8 “Jessie” will end security support on June 17, 2018
According to the developer Moritz Muehlenhoff posted on Debian-security-announce mailing list security announcements, as of June 17, 2018, Debian GNU / Linux 8 “Jessie ” series operating system will not receive security updates regularly. However, a limited number of partial packages will still be updated for some time. Moritz Muehlenhoff stated that this is a pre-notification and, like the previous version, additional LTS support will only be provided for fewer architectures and packages after June 17.
After June 17, 2018, the Debian Long Term Support (LTS) project will continue for two years. Until June 6, 2020, the Debian GNU/Linux 8 “Jessie” series operating system will be a variety of important software during this period. Packages and architectures provide support. Among the supported hardware architectures include 32-bit (i386), 64-bit (amd64), Armel, and ARMhf, but note that the support provided by the Debian LTS team consists of a group of volunteers, not Debian security The team provides.
Therefore, it is recommended that you migrate from the Debian GNU/Linux 8 “Jessie” to the newer Debian GNU/Linux 9 “Stretch” series of operating systems. The series will be supported until June 2020 and will receive additional LTS support from the Debian LTS team for two years from June 2020 to June 2022.
