Fedora 28 Beta Released, Introducing New Features Modular Repository
Fedora 28 Beta is now available, and new development releases bring many new features, such as support for the 64-bit ARM architecture and GNOME 3.28. In addition, the VirtualBox guest add-in is included by default.
However, the biggest new feature of this version is the introduction of a modular repository. The official said that Fedora 28 now uses a simpler module approach rather than a separate modular operating system. In addition to the traditional Everything Repository, there is now a new Modular Repository.
Currently, the modular repository can be used immediately on the Fedora Server version. Modularity can also be enabled in other versions and Fedora variants, but unfortunately, Module cannot be used on GNOME Software or Plasma Discover.
Officials stated that they are providing the necessary support for libdnf on which these tools (and other tools) depend. To use a modular repository on the Fedora desktop platform, it is recommended to use it inside the container.
