Global Centre for Cybersecurity was formally established
The annual investment by governments and enterprises in the area of cyberattack threats has risen to 445 billion U.S. dollars, led by the 48th Davos World Economic Forum (WEF) Global Centre for Cybersecurity was officially established on January 23, 2018. This new organization aims to improve cyber resilience while creating a set of independent best practices libraries that will provide guidance on different scenarios.
According to the World Economic Forum president Alois Zwinggi said at a news conference, standing in the center of Geneva, and plans to March 2018 was officially launched. The center will also help the region develop new strategies to protect key types of infrastructure. In addition, the rise of the Internet of Things (IoT) and connected devices has also become a particular type of business concern, a challenge that is widely perceived as causing more serious cybersecurity issues.
Cyber Security Global Center will manage its own. World Economic Forum spokesman Georg Schmitt said the introduction to the public, members of the Operations Center will depend on funding, the forum itself generals put millions of Swiss francs. Currently, partner companies have to pay a fee to join, while government, academia and civil society are free to join. The center plans to employ only 20-30 employees by 2018.
It is not yet known how many “government partners” have joined the center, although government representatives from nearly 20 countries attended the preparatory meeting in November 2017, including several G7 and G20 countries.
Many in the security industry do not believe how successful the new Center for Global Cyber Security will be.
