Google Chrome continues to be the #1 desktop browser in the world
Google Chrome continues to be the #1 desktop browser in the world, despite a slight decline in share last month, and the new Windows 10 default Microsoft Edge browser is trying to increase market share. In terms of market share, Google’s browser is 61.69%, and Microsoft has more or less stopped using Internet Explorer market share is 12.30%, Firefox ranked third with 10.17% market share.
Despite Microsoft’s upcoming Windows 10 update in April 2018, the share of Microsoft Edge browser dropped to 4.45% in the previous month, and the Windows 10 update in April 2018 brought some improvements, including the browser itself. The worse news for Microsoft is that Edge has failed to increase its market share, despite Edge gaining new features and Microsoft taking a very positive move. Microsoft is often criticized for pushing Edge browser too aggressively, and companies sometimes advertise directly on the desktop to highlight the main features of their new application. However, all these efforts are useless, and Google Chrome is still the preferred browser for desktop users.
Edge has barely improved in the past 12 months and has grown by less than 1% since 2017. For example, Microsoft’s new browser was running on 3.97% of desktop computers in May 2017, and it barely reached 4.45% last month. There is no doubt that this is bad news for Microsoft, especially when the company brings Edge to all platforms including Android and iOS. Through this browser, the software giant’s goal is to provide better synchronization across devices, in an attempt to solve the lack of mobile platforms after the death of Windows 10 Mobile.
