Microsoft announces Hyper-V Android emulator support
For developers’ convenience, Microsoft is currently announcing the launch of an Android emulator based on the company’s own HYPER-V virtual machine and supporting the latest version of the suite and interface.
After configuring the simulator, it supports the direct call of Google service components, as well as the use of cameras, geographic location selection, and quick launch of the simulator Android.
Microsoft promises that the emulator will always support the latest version of the Android system API interface. Relatively speaking, the emulator function should be very convenient for developers.
The Android emulator is currently in testing phase, so there may be a variety of problems. Developers should back up their own data when they use it.
Installing the emulator requires first enabling the Hyper-V virtual machine and installing the latest beta release of the Visual Studio Tools for Xamarin tool.
At the same time, this function only supports Windows 10 Version 1803, which is the April update. Therefore, if you use the old version, you cannot turn it on.
Because the use of this simulator requires the installation of more development tools and is currently in the preview version, BlueDotNet does not recommend that ordinary users test this feature.
First, enable the Hyper-V virtual machine and its management platform in the Windows 10 function management. After the initial startup, you need to restart the device to take effect.
Then you need to install the Visual Studio 2017 v15.8 beta and the Visual Studio Tools for Xamarin management tools beta.
Then select the Android SDK Manager in the tool options in VS after downloading the preview installer from Microsoft, and then select the Android emulator.
