Netcraft July Web Server Survey: Apache is declining
Netcraft released the Web server survey report for July 2018, and the top three are still Microsoft, Apache, and nginx.
In the Web-oriented computer market, nginx has the most significant growth rate (+ 3.24%), accounting for more than half of the overall growth, with more than 2 million Web-facing computers. It is also among the top vendors currently ranked, the only ones that can gain share in the Web-oriented computer market. Also, nginx’s market share in active sites (+ 7.87%) and million TOP stations (+ 0.71%) has also increased.
Apache still leads the way in domains, active sites, web-facing computers, and millions of TOP sites. However, its share is declining on all statistical metrics and has been going on for months, and following trends are not optimistic.
Microsoft still stayed ahead of the total number of sites this month, reaching 670 million (40.28%), but behind most of the other indicators Apache and nginx.
Also, Google’s .app TLD registered on May 8, 2018. Netcraft’s survey this month found that 185,000 unique domain names are running under .app TLD, most of which have not yet been enabled. 15,000.
