The Shadow Simulator

Shadow is a unique discrete-event network simulator that runs real applications like Tor and Bitcoin, and distributed systems of thousands of nodes on a single machine. Shadow combines the accuracy of emulation with the efficiency and control of simulation, achieving the best of both approaches.

Also included are simple Internet topologies and a core plug-in for generating traffic between nodes and through SOCKS proxies.

Install

Requirement

• Ubuntu/Debian

  sudo apt-get install -y python python-matplotlib python-numpy python-scipy python-networkx python-lxml
  
  sudo apt-get install -y git dstat screen htop
• Fedora/CentOS

  sudo yum install -y gcc gcc-c++ make cmake glib2 glib2-devel igraph igraph-devel xz xz-devel
  
  sudo debuginfo-install glibc
  
  sudo yum install -y python numpy scipy python-matplotlib python-networkx python-lxml
  
  sudo yum install -y git dstat screen htop

   

Setup

git clone https://github.com/shadow/shadow.git

cd shadow

./setup build --clean --debug --test

./setup install

./setup test
