U.S Energy Secretary: Cybersecurity is the top priority for power grids and nuclear facilities
U.S Energy Secretary Rick – Perry said recently during a visit to the U.S Savannah River nuclear site (referred to as SRS) and Savannah River National Laboratory (referred to SRNL, SRNL SRS is the R & D department), Cybersecurity is the biggest challenge he faces in the scope of national security work.
Perry said he is most concerned about cybersecurity and the protection and defense of the nation’s capabilities. According to regulations, the U.S. Department of Energy is responsible for protecting the power grid and increasing the flexibility of the power grid. From a cybersecurity perspective, National Laboratories is also involved in related work, working with other agencies of the United States federal government to protect the country from cyber-attacks.
Network security is becoming an important part of the economy in Augusta, the USA by 2020, the US Army Cyber Command will be relocating to Fort Gordon, Augusta. In addition, the $95 million state-of-the-art Hull McKnight Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center, now under construction, will be at the heart of the University of Augusta Network Academy. Perry believes that SRNL future bright.
Perry talks about Trump’s commitment to creating a powerful nuclear arsenal. He said it was one of the things Trump had given him. Perry said he hopes to ensure that the United States owns the most modern and advanced nuclear program in the world.
