Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS (Xenial Xerus) officially released
Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS (Xenial Xerus) is now officially released, you can download the iso image here.
We previously reported that Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS will be released on March 1, 2018, due to publicly disclosed Meltdown and Specter vulnerabilities. Now that Canonical has officially released Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS, you can update it.
The biggest change is to fix Meltdown and Specter security vulnerabilities, there is to improve the stability and compatibility, the other is to include the following bug fixes:
- #1351267 partman-auto prefers to give disk to swap, leaving root too small
- #1555904 opal-prd not installed by default on ppc64el systems
- #1577833 Support statement for packages within Ubuntu 16.04 LTS should have the 5 Y statement
- #1746299 update makedumpfile tool version to v1.6.3
In addition, the kernel and display server for Ubuntu 17.10 has also been updated.
Xenial Xerus series update and maintenance plan are updated to Ubuntu 16.04.5, this version may be launched later this year.
