Ubuntu 18.04 LTS go its Feature Freeze
According to phoronix, Ubuntu 18.04 LTS “Bionic Beaver” is now in its Feature Freeze phase, which means Ubuntu developers are now focusing on bug fixes instead of adding new features to the system or making major changes function change and so on.
As planned, Ubuntu 18.04 LTS will release a beta version next week, then:
- March 22 into the UI freeze phase
- April 5 release of the final beta version
- April 12 into the kernel freeze phase
- April 19 release candidate version
- April 26 LTS version officially released
Also worth noting is that Microsoft recently announced a joint Canonical Ubuntu 18.04 LTS provides a more powerful virtual machine experience, Hyper-V virtualization solutions to achieve the implementation goals. Craig Wilhite, the Microsoft Project Manager, said: “We are working with Canonical to bring this experience to fruition in the upcoming release of Ubuntu 18.04 and we are working hard to provide a system-built, user-powered solution that provides consumers with Host operating system tightly integrated, excellent system built-in Linux virtual machine experience.”
