The FIFA World Cup is set to be the biggest event of the year. This year it’s in the Middle Eastern country of Qatar, and it’s set to be a thrilling one. You want to make sure that you catch every second of the action this year as the world’s best football nations go head-to-head for the ultimate prize in the sport. From France to Argentina, the world is patiently waiting to watch every match live.

You might be wondering if it’s possible to find some good FIFA World Cup live streams that are both high quality and reliable. There will be plenty of streaming services that you could tune into, but you may find that many of them will be hidden by geo-blocking if you’re not in an approved region or country. This could leave you frustrated as you endlessly search for more live streams to try out.

But all you need is a cybersecurity tool that will spoof your location and trick the websites into granting you access to the live streams. Keep reading to find out how.

The Geo-blocking Issue

Media companies like Sky Sports need to pay millions of dollars to secure the broadcasting rights and licences that allow them to live stream the FIFA World Cup. With so much money being invested, it’s no surprise that the subscription fees to most premium live streaming services are so pricey.

Along with broadcasting rights, media companies are also given strict rules that they need to adhere to. One of these rules prevents them from streaming any World Cup matches outside of their country or region. For example, you can’t watch a Sky Sports live stream if you’re outside of the UK. This rule allows FIFA to sell more broadcasting rights to media companies in other countries, rather than the bigger companies establishing a monopoly.

Websites use your IP address to determine your device’s location. An IP address is a unique string of numbers that is used to identify your device on the internet, and that includes information about where you’re accessing the internet from.

If a website detects that your IP address is not within the approved region, your access to the live stream will be blocked. This is referred to as geo-blocking, something many internet users will be all too familiar with.

The Tool You Need

There is a way that you can change your device’s IP address to one in another country. Doing so would trick websites into thinking that you’re accessing them from within the borders of that country. All you need to do is install a virtual private network, also known as a VPN on your device.

VPNs are cybersecurity tools first and foremost. They are mainly used to encrypt your internet connection, which will prevent anyone else from seeing what you’re doing on your device while surfing the web. VPNs are such powerful tools that not even the government or your ISP can monitor your internet traffic while you have a VPN active. This makes them the ultimate tools for online privacy and security.

VPNs also allow you to connect to a collection of secure global servers in other countries around the world. When you connect to one of these servers, your real IP address will be masked, and your device will adopt the IP address of the server that you have connected to.

This will trick websites into thinking that you’re accessing them from somewhere else. For example, if you want to watch a Sky Sports live stream from outside of the UK, all you need to do is hook your VPN up to a server in the UK and you’ll bypass those annoying geo-blocking restrictions.

With a VPN installed on your device, you have the freedom to tune into any live stream in the world using the library of global servers that are available to you. You can even find some countries that live stream FIFA World Cup matches for free!

How to Choose the Ideal VPN

Before you head over to try and find a VPN, you need to keep in mind that there are a few crucial rules to follow when choosing a VPN. Not all VPNs have been created equally, so you need to look for a VPN that suits your needs best.

When it comes to live streaming World Cup matches, your ideal VPN will have great connection speeds as well as a wide range of secure global servers to choose from. Always read through some reviews from reputable sources before installing a VPN on your device.

But the most important rule of all is that you always choose a premium VPN. It might be tempting to save some cash by using a free VPN, but it’s ultimately not worth it. If you’re using a free VPN you’ll run into a ton of problems including slower connection speeds, more ads, less security, daily data limits, and fewer global servers to choose from.
