Earlier, while ranking anything, be it games, characters, food items, clothing brands, or whatever, people used to name it the best to worst ranking. But, now, as everything is evolving, the ranking system has not remained the same as it was. It is not that all the basic rules are changed, but we can say that there are many additions and modifications. TIER LISTS
Gamers first gave the concept of tier lists. In this list, the gamers used to rank the games, particular characters of the game, weapons, skins, maps, and other related things from best to worst. The main catch of preparing these lists is that every ordinary person can not assign specific rankings because the rankings must be trusted. The person who has in-depth knowledge about the topic only they will be able to perform this difficult task.
We all know the best to worst rankings, or if the other way round, it will become worst to best. The criteria of these types of orders are that, let’s suppose, the topic is “Hollow Knight Charms Ranked.” If there are a total of 26 charms so, in this case, no.01 will be given to the best one, and the worst will be ranked on the last number that is 26, and the numbers in between can be assumed as best, good, or average but we are not sure about them.

These are the lists in which particular rankings are assigned based on personal preferences, experiences, and research. Every website has different criteria for preparing its tier lists. Similarly, we have one as well. Our ranking system is categorized into five different tiers; S, A, B, C, and D tiers. However, these tiers will be moving from best to worst. One thing that must be kept in mind while going through any tier list is that these lists are subjective because it is not necessary to feel or think in the same way; hence the opinions of others also matter.

THE S-TIER (Top on the list)
This is the first tier included in the list. Here, the top-tier items that are leading or ruling over the others are ranked. Now, the tier lists are not for gaming only. We can rank anything into tiers. For instance, the topic is “Soda Tier List,” You will be ranking all of the sodas from top to bottom. The soda, which is perfect and has no flaws, will be ranked on the S-Tier as told above, which is the legendary tier. Whatever the topic will be, the superb items, characters, movies, games, YouTubers, fast food chains, etcetera will be ranked on the S-tier.
THE A TIER
The second tier on the list is the A-tier. It is that tier in which one of the best items will be placed. Being 2nd on the list does not mean that it is not the best; according to our criteria, it is placed second, but we describe it as the best tier. We can not say it is the ideal tier because S-tier deserves it. However, A-tier comes after the S-tier, so it is one step downwards, and there will be less difference between the items ranked on both tiers. It means that by the time some of the changes occur, the rankings of both the tiers can be switched. For instance, there are two fast-food chains. One is considered ideal, while the other is considered best, which has been ranked in the A-Tier. Still, by the time the best one does some modifications to its menu and taste, people gradually started seeing this chain as the ideal one, so now it is eligible to be ranked on the S-Tier.
THE B-TIER
It is the tier in which we will rank likable items. This is considered a good tier, and the items ranked here are also seen as appealing ones. This is not as good as the S and A Tiers, but we can still not say that it is bad. For instance, 5-star hotels will be ranked on the S-Tier, 4-star hotels on the A-Tier, and B-tier will include the ones with three stars. This is the most subjective among all the other tiers.
THE C-TIER
This is the second last tier in which we can find those items that are either average or below average. We can not consider this tier as our priority as it is not the superb, best, or even good. But in case of just giving it a try to check it for our personal opinion, we can opt for the items ranked in the C-Tier.
THE D-TIER
The D-tier is the worst tier, where the items that are of low quality or not liked at all will be ranked. If we are ranking the game characters then the ones will extremely low powers will be placed here, if we will be discussing cereals then the most unhealthy and worst tasting cereals will be ranked here. In simple words, the trash items, characters, games, foods, singers, restaurants, animals, etcetera will be ranked on the D-tier.
TRUSTED GAMING TIER LISTS
Nowadays, there are a number of tier lists that you can find on different websites. Google is bombarded with tier lists on different topics, but the main question is are these lists trusted? Are these appropriate? Can we freely rely on them for choosing the best?
We have mixed answers for these types of questions. Because some of the tier lists are prepared very informally by the people who are just there to share their point of view without even proper research. For example, their rankings will be based on their personal choices only; it will be based on what do they think of a particular thing? Like if they are ranking the best fast food then their rankings will reflect their personal choices. But do the majority of people feel like them? The answer is no. You can definitely prepare your own tier list based on your favorite choices, but other people can not completely rely on it. Because there is a proper reason for assigning S, A, B, C, and D ranks to the items, those reasons are logical.
If you are searching for a proper tier list that you can trust blindly, then you can find it on the proper websites. There are many websites that use this ranking system but most of them do not provide the reasons behind their rankings. I myself like TopTierList, even though I am not affiliated with them.
