5 Tips for SASE-Driven cybersecurity during remote working

Ddos June 30, 2021 3 minutes read
CVE-2022-21907

As the covid-19 pandemic continues to create havoc, work from home is still trending. The past few days saw the rise in remote work due to Covid. There was a sudden switch to remote working from offices in 2020 and has yet not settled in. This transition left companies prone to cyber fraud and data breaches.

Remember, the attackers are looking for vulnerabilities on your device!

Remote workers find it difficult to get the same security tools as in the office. They are the ones typically used to reach the rest of the organization. Data breaches are looking for your cyber security issues to attacks your systems. Keep these five tips in mind to protect your company and employees from cyberattacks –

1. Password – The easiest way to unlock a lock is through its key. Make sure your password doesn’t serve this purpose to lock your crucial business data. Always pick up a strong password that is single-use and not associated with your multiple accounts. The same password can get the fraudster access to your multiple accounts easily. There are multiple password managers available to remember your multiple passwords. Also use upper and lower case letters, numbers and special characters while generating your password. Using personal details for creating a password is a complete no.

2. Antivirus – Your office computers are protected with powerful malware solutions, restricted access from unauthorized devices and other measures. These measures are hard to be imposed on your personal computers. So, switching to a reliable antivirus solution is the best security option.

3. Device Encryption – Ever wondered what device encryption is for? The sole purpose of encrypting your device is to protect the data. When device encryption is on, no unauthorized access is allowed. Device encryption makes your data unapproachable without a password. Configure your wifi encryption also. It is imperative to protect your network connection also as the attacker can connect to your wifi. SASE security is already being embraced by global businesses.

4. Update software regularly – The software and programs are regularly updated to patch vulnerabilities. We understand that pop-ups are annoying, especially when it is for software updates but skipping them is not a good choice. Installing new versions can protect your data from potential security weaknesses. Fortunately, you can also set auto-update to install updates automatically.

5. Set up a device lock – last but not least, make sure you set up a device look too. Device lock is to protect your device from access by unknown people or at a public place. Lock your device to ensure no one can use it without your permission.

Don’t let yourself be a victim of a security incident!

As work from home comes with an extra set of precautions, make sure you follow all of them to not let the buck stop at you.

Apart from these security issues, remote working also has surprising benefits like flexible working hours, increased productivity, less fatigue, reduced overhead costs, reduced interruption by other employees and many more. Let’s enjoy this precious time with our families while being completely cyber secure.
