A Comprehensive Guide to Bulk Buying USBs

USB-C support, Windows 11

At the beginning of the millennium, the first USB flash drive was introduced. It caused quite a stir as being one of the most revolutionary tech devices, introduced to transfer and copy files from one computer to another.

Today, technology has made advancements by leaps and bounds. The simple USB flash drive has also transformed. But, first, let us understand what the USB flash drive is and the purpose it serves?

What is a USB Flash Drive?

A Universal Serial Bus flash drive (also known as a USB flash drive) is a storage device that uses flash memory and has an integrated USB interface. It can be used for computers and most electronic devices such as laptops, smart televisions, Ipads, cell phones, etc.

Furthermore, almost all operating systems such as macOS, Linux, and Windows, including many BIOS boot ROMs are supported by the USB flash drive.

The flash memory used in a USB is a computer chip, with zero detachable parts that do not require any power to preserve data. USB flash drives technically can be used endlessly to store data. The data saved can be erased and replaced with new content.

The size of the USB is no longer than the index finger, therefore, it requires very little space to keep or carry around with you. Not to mention, the USB, unlike, the CD is exceedingly durable. Scratches are harmless for the USB. In fact, the USB flash drive is built to sustain aggressive handling, so one does not need to worry about one’s data if the USB flash drive is dropped a couple of times on the floor by accident.

The USB flash drive is also immune to electromagnetic interference. All in all, it was a heaven-sent for computer users to save data. Now, it is essential, used by adults and kids alike for storing files, videos, images, PDFs and all kinds of other data.

Another feature that has recently been added to the USB flash drive is the built-in data protection software. This is because a recent survey of almost 300 IT employees from different sectors such as education and finance revealed that 6 out 10 employees used non-encrypted USBs, which left confidential data at risk.

For USB flash drives, that do not have such software, one can easily purchase such software online. The concept behind this feature is simple – safekeeping of sensitive data. Besides, if the USB is stolen or lost, the data stored in the USB cannot be processed by anyone other than the owner of the USB flash drive. Irrespective of it being such a small device, the USB has multiple advantages.

The Advantages of the USB

As mentioned earlier the USB is nothing if not durable, it is meant to withstand the strenuous treatment. With proper handling, a USB flash drive can easily last over a decade or more.  The USB also has diversified usage applications – earlier it was used to copy or transfer files. Now, the USB can be used for storing videos, images audio tracks, PDFs and much more.

The size of the USB is so compact that most users simply attach the drive to their keychains. Furthermore, USB flash drives have different storage capacities, which makes it easier for the consumer to choose according to one’s requirements. Larger storage capacity means the USB flash drive operates faster. USB drives with greater storage capacity are available in 8 GB, 16 GB, 32 GB, 64 GB, 128 GB, and 256 GB. However, if the requirement is for smaller files, there are USBs available from 8 GB to 2 GB. The largest storage capacity in a USB is 2 TB (Terabytes).

The recent trend of the USB flash drive is to be useful not only as a data storage device. It is now also a fashion accessory for your computers, laptops, cell phones, and other electronic devices. It comes in a range of colors, shapes, and designs.

Bulk buying USBs

Keeping in mind, the several advantages of the USB flash drive, it is no wonder that it is used by all. However, there are different aspects that one ought to consider before purchasing a USB flash drive. This holds true for individuals as well as bulk ordering flash drives.

The theory of wholesale purchasing follows that the more the number of items bought, the lower the price goes. To put that simply, the cost per drive is reduced because of buying USBs in bulk. Hence, it makes perfect sense for companies to bulk buy USB flash drives.

Most companies bulk buy USBs to provide their employees with a backup data storage facility so that no vital information is lost. The USB being the cheapest and most accessible method available. With sensitive or huge amounts of data, it becomes necessary for companies to provide their employees with a USB flash drive.

Recently, USBs are also being used as an advertising tool. Prospective and current clients are gifted USBs with company logos on them as a token of appreciation. USB flash drives are also used as promotional giveaways at conferences. Furthermore, content customization is done to deliver unique experiences for customers.

Companies seek to make decisions that are based on offers that provide optimal returns and minimal costs. the number of devices to be bought, the type of data to be stored, how often the USB flash drive is going to be used, the chosen brand of the drives, and of course, the pricing of the USB are all considerations that weigh heavily upon the value companies receive for the costs incurred.

Security concerns are also a factor. So, it is imperative to remember to buy from brands that have warranties, use reliable websites and be wary of counterfeit products. Moreover, when bulk buying USB flash drives it is very important to ensure that the concerned company provides after-sales services and customer care.

In the event that one is faced with defective goods or faulty products, after-sales service will be highly effective in dealing with any arising problems. Taking into account all the factors discussed; and, with a bit of market survey, one is likely to make the most reliable choice when going for bulk buying of USB flash drives.
