Recently, Microsoft confirmed a problem that relates to the KB 4011730 update, which caused the DOCX document to appear when Microsoft Word 2016 started.
As Microsoft itself explained, KB4011730 is a security update for Microsoft Office 2016 that aims to address “This security update resolves vulnerabilities in Microsoft Office that could allow remote code execution if a user opens a specially crafted Office file.”
Although the update was originally designed to fix the problem and allows you to open the DOCX document without any security risk, it does seem to solve the problem by not opening the DOCX file at all in Word 2016.
Microsoft itself has confirmed this error and said: “We are aware of this issue and working on a fix. In the meantime, you may be able to workaround this issue by installing the March 6, 2018, update for Office 2016 (KB4018295).”. Therefore, to fix the errors introduced by the new patch, you need to install the old patch.
