According to Softpedia reports, Microsoft recently announced that because cryptocurrency advertising constitutes a “high risk” for users, Bing will start to block related advertisements. The software giant explained that cryptocurrencies are sometimes used to uncover suspicious activities that expose users, and that there are some cases where malicious behavior is exploited with this type of advertisement. In other words, Microsoft’s move is to protect customers.

Microsoft stated in a statement: “We are always evaluating our policies to ensure a safe and engaging experience for our Bing users and the digital advertising ecosystem. Because cryptocurrency and related products are not regulated, we have found them to present a possible elevated risk to our users with the potential for bad actors to participate in predatory behaviors, or otherwise scam consumers”
Beginning in June of this year, Bing will no longer allow any cryptocurrency, cryptocurrency-related products, and unregulated binary options to be advertised on its platform.
It seems that in addition to Microsoft, Facebook and Google have also decided to ban virtual currency ads. Facebook announced the ban on cryptocurrency advertising in January this year, and Google has also issued a similar announcement in March. Google’s new policy shields cryptocurrency transactions, wallets, and gambling ads. The search giant said that unregulated financial products pose risks to customers.
