However, when Guccifer failed to activate the VPN client before logging on, it seemed to accidentally expose itself and learn that the Guccifer hacker’s IP address was found to be from Moscow and related to the Russian intelligence agency GRU.
The exact identity of Guccifer 2.0 is not yet known, but the researchers were able to determine that the accidentally exposed IP address was once used by an official who worked for the GRU headquarters in Grizodubovoy Street, Moscow.
Foreign media Daily Beast pointed out that the exposure is further confirmed by the fact that Russia intervened in the US presidential election of 2016.
This inevitably makes people question Putin’s role in the US presidential election. The US related departments have repeatedly tried to find the source of hackers, but in the end, they all rejected previous assumptions because of inconsistent information.
