Do Students Really Need Technology for Education?

Do Son March 31, 2020 5 minutes read
Technology for Education

With numerous stereotypes that have been created around technology, it is still unclear for many learners and educators whether the use of tech brings us more good than harm. Common sense tells us that this sphere depends on the purposes that we use it for; the use of technology can be equated to eating ice-cream: as long as you stick to moderation and don’t fall into extremes, it’s perfectly okay.

Education is one of the fields where smart devices can make a revolution, allowing students to master any desired skill and get knowledge immediately. Being such a powerful tool, technology should be used with a well-shaped strategy to reduce the possible dangers and enhance advantages for the young generations.

Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Deny Technology in Learning

While minuses could be discussed for ages, let us better concentrate on the pluses of using devices for students and teachers. The list of them is really long.

  • Better interaction β†’ better socializing.

If 10 years ago learners used to throw little papers with secret messages or more important, personal β€˜manuscripts’, today they do it through Snapchat, Instagram, or WhatsApp. The study has shown that mobile devices can enhance social interaction due to the high accessibility and frequency of usage. If it’s so quick and smart, why not use this way for learners to get feedback, chat with tutors, or prepare for the future profession?

Besides using technology to connect the group in class, we can also use it in the informal environment for students to have self-initiated meetups that can’t help but promote friendship and interaction.

  • More chances to get qualified academic help.

No matter what times we live in, there will always be students who require more help than others. Not because they are slow or less able, – just because all people are psychologically different, and the pace is quite an individual parameter. Anyway, the Internet comes as a reliable helper in finding certified writers to deal with strange, complicated, or too scientific academic assignments. Essays in English or literature, tasks in coding or accounting, chemistry or physics assignment help, – all of this and more can become a good way out. Anyway, the better way out (compared to the β€˜method’ of copying your groupmate’s homework). DoMyAssignments.com is one of those reliable places to get fast homework solutions.

  • Inclusive studies.

Students differ from each other in many aspects, – background, nationality, social environment, and… needs. While traditional learning is often intending to make all requirements and tasks standard, it doesn’t pay enough attention to learners who might be very different due to their listening impairments, problems with eyesight or possessing the attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder.

Still, there is a way out. Due to the rapid progress of technology for being used in lessons, simple apps can transform the way in which information is put, remembered, and reproduced. Accessible format, visual or sound support, picture-to-speech or speech-to-text transferring, – all of this opens the new opportunities to special learners, allowing them to top up their literacy and equally take part in any activity in class.

  • Having access to the up-to-the-minute data.

This is priceless. Really. If we only think of the time when students of the foreign language faculty (nearly 10-15 years ago) used to learn English or German by outdated textbooks, we will immediately see how lucky we are today to have technology on our fingertips. Today, in 0.6 seconds, you can get any answer, piece of news, or article from Uncle Google. That is great for keeping learners’ eyes open on what is happening in the world, critical thinking, healthy analysis, and decision making.

  • Engaging students more actively.

If the smartphone or video games have the ability to get children glued to the screen, how much more could this ability be used by modern teachers and students? Learning a language, digging into literature or history could be as fascinating as games. With the help of apps and online courses, learners are better focusing on the material plus learn it in a fun way. Besides, to engage learners you don’t need to reinvent the wheel, – just turn up an interesting movie or series related to the subject and you will spark the interest in their eyes!

  • Covering the needs of students with different learning styles.

Learning with technological facilities is much more personalized than the one that we are used to. If there’s a group of learners who have the innate ability to memorize by ear which is far more developed than memorization through visual aids, why not give way to this ability and direct it for the students’ good?

Taking a look at all of these benefits, we can make the conclusion that technology can become a faithful friend rather than an enemy of education, on condition that it is used correctly and applied for the right purposes.
