Facebook said it will block all ads on its platform that involve digitally encrypted currency, including bitcoin, in an effort to discourage advertisers from promoting ads that the company calls “financial products and services often associated with misleading and deceptive promotion”. Facebook mentions in a blog post that all advertisers, even regular sign-ups, and legitimate businesses, are not allowed to release digital Bitcoin-like cryptocurrencies, binary options, and Initial coin offerings,ICO related ads.

Ads that violate the new Facebook advertising rules will not appear on platforms where their core apps and other Facebook ads are served, such as Instagram and Facebook’s Audience Network, a system that sells ads exclusively on third-party platforms.

Rob Leathern, director of advertising at Facebook, wrote in a post: “We want people to continue to discover and learn about new products and services through Facebook ads without fear of scams or deception. ”

The rise of digital cryptocurrencies has led to fraud, whose dramatic price swings have also led consumers, including some less sophisticated investors, to lose large sums of money. Fraud is illegal, but does not understand the investment bet is not illegal.
