In April 2018, Google made a new revision of Gmail, and some users can experience new UI and functionality after landing Gmail. This is Google’s first major change to Gmail since 2013.
In addition to the new UI, Google also mentioned offline functionality at the time. Now, news from 9to5Google shows that Google has started to open the offline function of Gmail for users. Users can write, search, delete, and archive emails without connecting to the Internet, and change simultaneously when connecting to the Internet.
To use Gmail’s latest offline feature, you need to upgrade the Chrome browser to v61 and above. When using the new web version of Gmail in a version-compliant browser, you can see a new “offline” tag in the settings screen. Click “Enable offline Mail“. Here you can check the amount of storage space used by Gmail on your computer and set “Sync settings.”
The user can decide how many days to download the email. The default is 30. Other options include 7 days and 90 days. The final setting is security, and you can set whether Gmail retains or deletes offline data on your computer after logging out.
