Google Lens is a handy gadget that was announced at the 2017 Google I/O conference as essentially a visual search engine. Take a photo with your phone and Google will do some clever analysis and provide insights into what you are looking at. Now that it’s getting better, you can store the information on your business card as contacts and even describe the landmarks you find.
The new version of Google Lens launched today allows Android users to try something, such as creating a contact from a business card, or getting more information about a landmark. If you have a business card, simply open its photo in Google Photos and link to Google Lens. With one click, Google Lens will automatically create a contact for you using the information printed on the card.
Another new addition to Google Lens is the ability to recognize and provide famous landmark details. So if you’re in Pisa, Italy, and you see a tower that stands at an awkward angle, Google Lens will tell you, “Oh, that’s the Leaning Tower of Pisa.” In addition to identifying buildings, Google Lens also offers you Information you may need. This includes things like location descriptions or opening hours, saving you Google search time.
The latest version of Google Lens can be found in Google Photos. Sadly, iOS users will have to wait for a while to use it. Google released a Google Lens for Macintosh smartphone platform on MWC 2018 but did not give a specific release date. However, it said it will be released in the next few weeks.
