As always with any question, not just games, it’s worth starting from the very beginning. The ever-growing numbers are prompting companies to create engaging mobile gaming apps to promote their brand. Because profitability is a key factor when developing a mobile gaming application. As such, it is imperative to make a mobile game with very fun and addictive features, and an impressive user experience is sure to be added to this list of the most requested features. As for the choosing a game engine, it’s very important question, which should always be taken into consideration.

Determining the platform

Which game engine to choose in 2018 to create a game?

At the very first stage, we are trying in detail to determine what we are going to create our first game for, this is a very important and irreplaceable stage, the future of your development depends on it, up to the programming language and the complexity of the entire development process. And unity game development is able to help to deal with this task.

At the moment, there are several platforms for which games are created. It can be a computer, smartphone (mobile phone), consoles, and all other possible set-top boxes.

Once you have decided on the choice of a gaming platform, it’s time to think about the type of your game, what kind of projection your game will be and what genre. Every user must give an answer on the question what game engine should i use himself and only them make final choice.

Game projection

The choice of the game projection is very important question, which should be in the center of attention in any case. 2D games are the most popular in the world of mobile games, what we download every day in the “App Store” and “Google Play”.

What kind of game you are going to create depends only on you and your skills.

Speaking about the genre of the game, we immediately understand a certain subcategory of the game, in fact, there is no clearly established framework of the genre in the understanding of a particular game, it often happens that genres overlap. But all the same, there are certain conditions for games, according to which one can try to understand and appropriate a genre.

Game Engines

Which game engine to choose in 2018 to create a game?

When we decided everything for ourselves what the projection would be, what the genre would be, what platform, what story, design and much more.

Now it’s time to choose the game engine itself, on which we will embody our dreams for the project this year. In order to get more information the users can use simple and easy tips.

And so in our time there is not a small number of game engines. But it follows from the whole series to highlight the most successful and popular engines, as well as light ones, because for beginners this is an important parameter.

Which game engine should you choose to create your game?

  1. Unreal Engine is one of the most powerful game engines in the gaming world, this engine has collected many games that almost everyone knows, we went through most of the games in our youth, and if we are named at least a few games from their large list, then we will definitely cry out and say, “Yes, I know this game, I went through it all!”

Let’s talk about the pros and cons of this game engine.

Pros:

  • Free access to download.
  • Convenient interface.
  • Ability to share a project and do one project together.
  • Convenient management.
  • Available import and export of animation.
  • Convenient visual scripting system called “Blueprints”.
  • Ability to buy quality, ready-made assets on the market.
  • Creation of animation synmatics, by adding a timeline.
  • Open source.

Minuses

  • Contributions to developers in the amount of 5%, provided that you earn more than 3,000 thousand dollars on the project per quarter.
  • Programming is carried out in the C ++ language, which is not loved by everyone because of the complexity and some inconsistency in the compilation of the project.
  • 2D development at an intermediate level, few tools for normal game development for 2D projection.
  • A small selection of assets and a great price.
  • A small number of training lessons.

All variants have their own pros and cons, which are rather important and should always be in the center of attention.
