How to generate a cool idea for your essay in 5 steps?

A fast search for ideas is a helpful ability you’ll need. Finding ideas is not that difficult; it’s just a skill that can be gradually developed. For starters, make a habit of writing the right plan for every custom essay you write. It will help you stay on top of the topic and find the right ideas. And over time, you will learn to sketch out great ideas for any topic quickly.

There are two possible situations: you don’t know what to write about when you’re not limited to a particular topic — the choice is too broad, and you just don’t know what to focus on; or when the topic is offered, the volume is set, and you have 40 minutes for everything, but you’re clearly not a fan of the theme.

You have the whole world in front of you if the topic is not set. Sometimes it seems that this only complicates the task. But in fact, it means that you are free to choose a theme that interests you, which can make your essay more meaningful and deep. We prepared five easy steps that will help you generate a fresh idea for your piece.

Determine the goal

The first thing you need to think about is the goal of the essay you have to write. Do you need to convince people what you believe in; or explain how to accomplish a specific task; or tell them about a person, a place, a thing or an idea, or something entirely different? Whichever topic you choose, it must be consistent with that goal.

Write down as many topics as possible

Once you have determined the objective of your essay, write on a piece of paper, some topics that interest you. No matter what the goal of your article is, you can apply many topics to it. If you find it challenging to come up with a theme, just look around you. Is there anything in the world around you that fascinates or worries you? Think about your life. What takes most of your day? It’s already a good topic. At this stage, there’s no need to evaluate and choose, just list everything that comes to your mind. Remember to make a plan that will help you structure your work and thoughts.

Evaluate every potential topic

If you have come up with a few acceptable topics, you should consider each of them separately. Think about how you feel about the chosen theme. If you need to talk about something (share knowledge), make sure you are quite well-informed about it. If you need to convince the reader of something, make sure that you are at least moderately passionate about the topic. Of course, the essential factor in choosing a topic is the number of ideas you have about it. Even if none of the topics you have listed seem particularly attractive to you, try selecting the one that you hate the least and working through it.

Before you start the essay writing process, take another look at the topic you have chosen. Think about what kind of work is expected of you. Should it be an overview or an in-depth analysis of the topic? If it is a general overview, then you are probably ready to move on to the next step. If it is an in-depth analysis, make sure that the topic is specific enough. If it is too general, you should select a narrower subtopic to describe it. For example, the topic “The Simpsons” is too broad. If the purpose of the essay is to provide a general overview of the series, then this topic will do. If you need to write a more specific analysis, it should be narrowed, for example, to “The predictions in the Simpsons” or “Jazz and its depictions in the Simpsons”. Once you have decided on the topic, you can move on.

Find illustrative results

Come up with persuasive examples that will explain your ideas. These could be historical data, quotes, etc. Remove ideas that are difficult to develop, leave only those that have strong potential. Do not get stuck in the search for examples and arguments if it takes you too long.

Check your ideas

Reread the task and make sure that all the ideas you have listed correspond to the topic. Eliminate ideas that lead the essay away from the subject. It often happens that while writing an essay, we are delighted with what we get. Rereading the outline again can be very disappointing because we have never been able to convey the message, or our opinions seem weak, underdeveloped, and lacking in arguments. In that case, we simply cross out all the weak parts of our plan and start filling it up and turning it into an essay.
