Apple will give up the Lightning port in 2019, iPhone use USB-C

Siri bug

According to a report recently, Apple plans to implement several significant changes on the 2019 iPhone. In addition to the shift of all models (starting this year) from LCD screens to OLED screens, the company may eventually adopt USB-C ports. DigiTimes pointed out that both iPhone and iPad will support USB-C because the company is “redesigning chargers and related interface for the next-generation.”

It believes that Apple is planning a method similar to MacBook:

“Apple is believed to be planning an approach similar to the one for the MacBook. After using USB-C on its laptops, several notebook vendors have embraced this choice as well, the report notes, so by making the same change on the iPhone, more smartphones could eventually hit the market with this port.”

It should point out that the Android camp has long been ahead of Apple and started its transition to USB-C:

“This major change is only planned for 2019, as Apple “is still in the redesign phase,” which means that the company does not have enough time to finalize work on this project before the 2018 family of iPhones goes live in September.”

There is no doubt that if this plan is confirmed, starting from the September 2019 product line, Apple consumers can finally use the most popular USB-C interface.
