Israeli cyber security is among the top five in the world

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on the 20th that Israel had become one of the world’s five leading countries in the field of cybersecurity.

Netanyahu said at the 8th International Cyber Security Conference held at Tel Aviv University in Israel that eight years ago, the Israeli government set a goal of developing Israel into a top five in the world of cybersecurity. “My goal eight years ago was to make Israel one of the five leading cyber powers in the world, and I think we’ve reached that; I think we’re maybe even further ahead on that list.”

According to Netanyahu, Israel’s current investment in private network security accounts for 20% of the world’s investment; in 2017, Israel’s total network security industry exports amounted to 3.8 billion US dollars, and there are more than 400 internet companies in Israel, and 50 multinational companies R&D centres.

Netanyahu said that one of the significant challenges facing humanity is to ensure the safety of various installations and equipment and that any new technology area is also facing cybersecurity threats.

Netanyahu played a slide on the big screen of the conference scene to simulate the situation of cyber attacks. Assuming that hackers had just attacked the conference, the bank account of everyone in the conference room was frozen, and information sent to the enemy. He warned that this is not a theory but the threat that all countries are facing.

The International Cyber Security Conference is an important part of the Israel Week held in the Israeli seaside city of Tel Aviv. The Cyber Week is held once a year. This week’s Network Week kicked off on June 17th, attracting representatives from more than 60 countries and regions.
