The US.KG domain, which previously offered free subdomains, has once again been suspended from resolution by the Kyrgyzstan registry. Although the domain was restored after initial discussions, it was suspended again last Friday.
The reason for the suspension remains unchanged—as a free domain, US.KG has been widely exploited by cybercriminal groups to host phishing sites and malicious content. In most cases, when a registry receives an overwhelming number of abuse reports, it takes action against the domain, which may include suspension, seizure, or permanent revocation.
Currently, US.KG is facing a suspension of resolution services. The operator, DigitalPlat, has confirmed that it is actively negotiating with the Kyrgyzstan registry to resolve the issue. However, since the discussions occurred over the weekend, no action was taken at that time.
Our tests indicate that US.KG remains inaccessible. It is unclear whether the Kyrgyzstan registry will require further discussions with DigitalPlat before deciding whether to restore resolution.
Given that this is the second global suspension within a short period, DigitalPlat has announced plans to strengthen its review mechanisms and implement KYC (Know Your Customer) verification. This means that future registrations for US.KG subdomains may require identity verification.
While identity verification can indeed reduce abuse, it also raises privacy concerns. SecurityOnline advises users to consider purchasing an affordable paid domain rather than relying on free domains, which are often subject to suspension, seizure, or revocation due to widespread abuse.
The fate of free domains is often tied to phishing and other forms of misuse, ultimately leading to their suspension or forced paid registration. For instance, previous CF domains were entirely revoked by their registry, requiring users to pay for registration, which resulted in countless websites disappearing overnight.
