LibreOffice 6.0 has reached 1 million downloads in just 2 weeks

LibreOffice 6.0

LibreOffice 6.0, an open source cross-platform office suite, was released for download on January 31, 2018, for Linux, macOS, and Windows operating systems. The new release introduces a host of new features for the core engine and various modules that significantly enhance interoperability with Microsoft Office documents. Document Foundation today announced that LibreOffice 6.0 has reached 1 million downloads, which is only two weeks from the official release of this version.

LibreOffice 6.0 makes it easier for users to import or export various document formats by consolidating a series of new libraries. These libraries make LibreOffice 6.0 compatible with EPUB3 (Export Only), AbiWord, Microsoft Publisher, PageMaker, and QuarkXPress documents (imported only), and naturally other open source projects require these libraries to be used as stand-alone libraries as well.

Key features include improved Notebookbar, new gradients, new Elementary icons, menu and toolbar improvements, updated startup screens, and more. Other options include EPUB3 compatibility, ODT output to EPUB3, support for importing AbiWord, Microsoft Publisher, PageMaker and QuarkXPress documents, ODF document signing with OpenPGP keys, experimental OpenPGP-based encryption (GPG software required), and many more.
