The Lithuanian government said the decision was made because Kaspersky is now considered a potential threat to Lithuania’s national security. The Lithuanian government explained that Kaspersky software runs only on computers that do not use sensitive data and must be licensed by the relevant corporate cybersecurity department.
Kaspersky has also recently been banned by the U.S. government. President Donald Trump has signed a law requiring the relevant state departments to remove Kaspersky antivirus software from the computer as soon as possible. In addition, the British government also advised users not to use Kaspersky software, but local authorities in the UK said they would work with Russian suppliers to solve the problem.
In a statement, Kaspersky security firm once again denied any possible relationship with the Kremlin and explained that the decision to ban its software was mainly due to the geopolitical struggle.
