Lurk hacker claims that WannaCry is actually developed in Russia
According to foreign media reports on December 30, Konstantin Kozlovsky, a hacker from the Lurk cybercrime gang, acknowledged that WannaCry ransomware and DNC hacking software have been developed at the request of the FSB (Information Security Center of the FSB) and cracked down the Democrats Server and Hillary Clinton’s email server. According to Kozlovsky’s testimony, the 2014 Yahoo server intrusion may also be related to the FSB.
The Lurk cybercrime community is known for developing, maintaining, and renting phishing exploit kits. Hackers gangs used Lurk bank Trojans to steal approximately $ 45 million from Russian financial institutions and their members were arrested by Russian police in 2016.
According to the Russian website crimerussia.com reports, hackers Kozlovsky said Lurk extortion gangs developed WannaCry software mainly for corporate networks, can spread rapidly through a large number of machines infected, and ultimately achieve “one-click” paralyzed purpose target network capabilities. Hacking gangs even planned to use WannaCry to crack the network of Novolipetsk Steel, the country’s third-largest steelmaker, in an attempt to disrupt blast operations.
People familiar with the matter said that the United States previously thought that North Korea was the culprit behind WannaCry’s cyber attack in May this year, but Kozlovsky said WannaCry was developed for the FSB and identified the attacks as being conducted by FSB’s Dmitry Dokuchaev One of two Russian intelligence officers on Yahoo’s server). But the remarks were also denied by Dmitry Dokuchaev.
The truth is still confusing and the media is curious about the incident – Kozlovsky is currently being jailed by Russian authorities, but accused FSB of other hackers instead?
