Microsoft announces new AI-powered data types to Excel

AI-powered data types

At the Ignite conference in September last year, Microsoft announced that it will bring new data types to Excel for accessing the cloud. After six months of polishing, the company finally confirmed today that this feature will be open to Office Insider users this month.

This new data type is based on the cloud and contains location information such as stocks and geography. These two types are the same as the data types demonstrated on Ignite. For example, when you are creating an enterprise list, the application will automatically identify and provide relevant information such as stock codes, stock prices, etc. If you are creating a town list, this application can show you relevant information about the population.

This information will not actually be used in spreadsheets. For example, cell A1 is Seattle, so users can use A1.Population to get Seattle’s population. Naturally, this is just the tip of the iceberg of this function. The user uses the zip code, the state where he is located, the country where he is located, and so on. On the stock side, the spreadsheet data is updated each time it is refreshed.
