Microsoft releases Windows Analytics tools to check Meltdown and Spectre protections
Although Intel has released fix patches for both Meltdown and Specter vulnerabilities, systems vendors such as Microsoft, Apple and Canonical have integrated the patches, but how consumers determine that the device they are using is not affected by both big loopholes affect it? Microsoft today announced the release of a free Windows Analytics tool for business users to check if the device being used is patched. This tool is for Windows 7/8.1/10 system.
The service is divided into three areas to see if your device is protected from two major vulnerabilities, one that checks PC-side anti-virus software to ensure it is compatible with the required Windows updates. Second, check to see if the necessary Windows security updates have been installed; finally, the service checks the status of the device firmware.
It is worth noting that these firmware updates may affect device performance, especially Intel’s Haswell and the fourth generation of the fourth generation. Intel said it will continue to provide updates to fix the issue in-depth, so if you want to be safer, you should always check it out with this tool.
