Microsoft reveals: Why Windows 10 April Update Cause an error on Intel SSDs
Microsoft last week admitted that computers using Intel SSDs cannot be upgraded to the Windows 10 April 2018 Update; today the company again offers more details on why it is not allowed to upgrade. In the known issue of cumulative update KB4103721, the Intel SSD 600p series and SSD Pro 6000p series proved to be affected, and if using both series of SSDs, it is recommended that users do not upgrade to the latest version. It is also not recommended for users to manually upgrade because it may affect system stability and performance.
Microsoft explained: “When attempting to upgrade to the Window 10 April 2018 Update, select devices with Intel SSD 600p Series or Intel SSD Pro 6000p Series may repeatedly enter a UEFI screen after restart or stop working.”
The relevant solutions are still being processed. Microsoft said “We are working with OEM partners and Intel to identify and block devices with Intel SSD 600p Series or Intel SSD Pro 6000p Series from installing the April 2018 Update. If you have encountered this issue, follow the steps to reinstall the previous operating system(Windows 10, version 1709), and wait for the resolution before attempting to install the April 2018 Update again. Microsoft is working on a resolution that will be provided in an upcoming release; after which, these devices will be able to install the April 2018 Update.“
