
Amazon has recently unveiled its AI-powered browser assistant, Nova Act—an intelligent agent designed to facilitate simple interactions within web browsers while also equipping developers and enterprises with the tools to create a richer array of web-based services.
Developed by Amazon’s AGI Lab located near San Francisco, Nova Act enters the competitive landscape alongside OpenAI’s Operator and Anthropic’s Computer Use, providing users with an intuitive means of navigating and engaging with various web services.
Alongside the assistant itself, Amazon has released a suite of developer tools intended to foster innovation and empower creators to build more diverse and automated web experiences, expanding the functionality of browser-based platforms.
Amazon further claims that Nova Act outperforms its peers in benchmark evaluations—most notably in the ScreenSpot Web Text test. In these assessments, Amazon’s proprietary Nova AI model demonstrated superior performance compared to Anthropic’s Claude 3.7 Sonnet and OpenAI’s Computer-Using Agent (CUA) model powering Operator.
The launch of Nova Act is also seen as a strategic move to support the forthcoming Alexa+ digital assistant services, which are beginning to roll out in the U.S. market, and is expected to form a key component of its expanded application ecosystem.
