SolydXK 201807 releases: Debian-based desktop distribution

Ddos January 17, 2018 2 minutes read
SolydXK

SolydXK is a Debian-based desktop distribution that offers two main flavours, one with the KDE Plasma desktop and the other with the Xfce desktop. SolydXK’s goal is to be easy to use and provide a stable and safe environment. SolydXK is an open source alternative for small businesses, non-profit organizations, and home users. The project started with an informal variation of the Debian version of Linux Mint, which used KDE as the default desktop but later had its own name, SolydK. When Linux Mint dropped its Debian-based and Xfce desktop-based version, SolydX came out.

Feature

Stable and Secure

SolydXK is based on Debian Stable to provide the most stable and secure operating system available. Use the Software Manager to satisfy all your software needs from trusted repositories, thus avoiding the risks associated with internet downloads.

Be productive right away

Once installed, everything is ready to use out of the box. Immediately surf the Internet, watch videos and DVDs, use social media, email co-workers and friends, or write and print documents.

Easy software installation and maintenance

Browse the software manager for the software you need. There is no need to download and install software from untrusted sources. All software is created, maintained and verified by the Linux community. SolydXK will always have the latest security updates available. The Update Manager icon in the tray notifies you of software updates. Just click and install.

Changelog v201807

  • Firefox’s default configuration has been further restricted and the provided plugins Privacy Badger, HTTPS Everywhere and uBlock Origin help to improve your privacy.
  • These restrictions were also implemented for Thunderbird.
  • AppArmor is now installed by default. This will improve security by binding access control attributes to programs rather than to users.
  • All SolydXK applications now use pkexec to get elevated permissions.
  • Many new features and bugs were solved in our SolydXK applications.
