Twitter will blocks Third-Party Clients on June 19th, 2018

Third-Party Clients

The foreign well-known social platform Twitter recently announced that it will close the relevant service APIs on June 19 of this year, resulting in third-party Twitter clients not being able to push notifications and automatically refresh the timeline of Twitter. Developers behind popular third-party Twitter clients such as Tweetbot, Twitterrific, Talon, and Tweetings are joining forces to inform users of the next changes today, hoping to push Twitter to take a more sensible approach.

According to Twitter’s official announcement, the company plans to remove the multiple streaming service APIs that third-party clients rely on June 19 to replace the Account Activity API that is still being tested, but the latter does not go to third-party clients. open.

Third-party client developers indicate that they may be able to push notifications by accessing the Account Activity API, but Twitter has not yet announced the relevant charges. However, the auto refresh timeline function is completely disabled.

Turning off the automatic refresh timeline feature means that there is no web service on your mobile device or desktop computer that can be updated with Twitter. Because Twitter has restricted other updates, users may see delays in real-time updates when they are watching sports events or breaking news through third-party Twitter accounts.

Update: Given the strong dissatisfaction of users, Twitter officials stated that there is a delay of 90 days after June 19.
