U.S. Phone Tracking Company Securus data leak: 2,800 logins & poorly encrypted passwords had already been cracked
According to CNET report, US Senator Ron Wyden has exposed Securus to provide the police with the ability to track telephones in real time. Now, the latest news says that this company has been hacked. According to a report from Motherboard, hackers at least got a spreadsheet containing 2,800 login names and poorly encrypted passwords.
Some of these passwords have been cracked. Motherboard stated that they tested some login names in order to verify the fact of the cyber attack.
It is not yet possible to fully confirm the report and it is unclear whether these stolen login names will allow hackers to also have the ability to track the phones of their respective users. Securus did not immediately comment on this.
