Google Announces Android IoT Device Special Edition – “Android Things”
After experiencing multiple betas, Google recently revealed that the company is about to publish the official version of the Android Things system developed specifically for IoT devices.
The company initially released the first beta of the Internet of Things Special Edition at the end of 2016. Since then, the system has undergone as many as seven betas.
Android Internet of Things special edition mainly for smart home products and even some of the lightweight industrial products, through the Internet of Things Special Edition smart channels of these hardware products.
During the testing period, multiple hardware vendors and software developers around the world have developed various smart home-based IoT products based on the Android Internet of Things special edition.
Google hopes that the Android Internet Special Edition can be used in applications such as smart light bulbs, home appliances, thermostats, cameras, access control and other types of sensors.
As a control system, the Android IoT Special Edition is more streamlined and compatible with more hardware products. It only needs 32MB to run the system on memory requirements.
Developers can use SDK Kit to develop supporting applications for users, that is, to control smart home products entirely through mobile applications.
Developers who are interested can download and test the Android Internet Special Edition through Raspberry Pi and other devices.
