Last month, hardware manufacturer ASUS published an article exploring the necessity of upgrading to Windows 11, as Microsoft will officially end support for Windows 10 on October 14. After this date, no further security updates will be provided to users of the Home edition—unless they opt to pay for Extended Security Updates (ESU).
In the article, ASUS highlighted the practical applications of artificial intelligence in daily life and how AI can be harnessed to boost productivity—ranging from AI-generated images and text summarization to the use of features like Recall for retrieving any piece of information.
ASUS has already introduced a number of certified Microsoft Copilot+ PCs. These devices, powered by Intel, AMD, or Qualcomm Snapdragon chips, come equipped with NPU (Neural Processing Unit) modules, enabling users to run Microsoft’s Copilot AI features natively on the device.
Although Microsoft and OEMs like ASUS are actively promoting these AI-enabled machines, their market share remains relatively small for now. Additionally, these laptops are priced higher than similarly specced models without AI capabilities.
In its support documentation, ASUS states: “If your current laptop isn’t up to snuff for Windows 11 or Copilot+, this is the perfect time to upgrade to a device that’s built for it.” The company recommends that all users consider making the switch.
ASUS also outlined several advantages of Windows 11, such as the centered Start menu, rounded corners, snap layouts for multitasking, increased control over the desktop’s appearance and functionality, and broader customization options.
Ultimately, whether users are willing or not, an upgrade to Windows 11 seems inevitable—after all, continuing to use Windows 10 without security updates is inadvisable, and it may still take years before Windows 10 completely fades into obsolescence.
