A new study was conducted by the German Institute for Security Research AV-TEST to determine the best anti-virus solution for Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (version 1709), this time with some surprising results. As happened in previous tests, Kaspersky and McAfee ranked the top of the list, and VIPRE Security scored 18 points this time.

According to AV-TEST’s research, all three solutions get 6 points in terms of protection, performance, and usability, thanks to near-perfect performance. Several products received near-high scores, including AhnLab’s V3 Internet Security, Avira Antivirus Pro, Bitdefender Internet Security and Trend Micro Internet Security. They all earned 5.5 points in one of the three tests.

ESET’s Internet security got the worst scores, which is at least astonishing because at some point the company has made some of the world’s most advanced security solutions. Test, the product total points 15 points, 5.5 points protection, performance 4 points, availability of 5.5 points.

On the plus side, the performance of Microsoft ‘s Windows Defender is much better than previous tests, proving that the software giant has improved its security offerings. Windows Defender is preinstalled on Windows 10 and provides system default protection if the third-party solution is not running. In this new round of testing, Windows Defender received a 15.5 reward, so it earned ESET’s product because it received 6 points of protection, 5.5 points of performance and 4 points of availability.

Based on detailed test results, Windows Defender blocked 98.9% of 0day malware attacks in November research and 100% of 0day malware attacks in December test.
