The CentOS team recently released kernel security patches for several releases, including 64-bit (x86_64) CentOS 7, with a focus on fixing the Meltdown and Specter vulnerabilities that erupted recently. CentOS 7 is based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7. The security update released this time is customized and optimized on Red Hat’s recent patch releases.
The current software problems include kernel-3.10.0-693.11.6.el7.x86_64.rpm, kernel-abi-whitelists-3.10.0-693.11.6.el7.noarch.rpm, kernel-debug-3.10.0- 693.11.6.el7.x86_64.rpm, kernel-debug-devel-3.10.0-693.11.6.el7.x86_64.rpm, kernel-devel-3.10.0-693.11.6.el7.x86_64.rpm and kernel- doc-3.10.0-693.11.6.el7.noarch.rpm.
In addition kernel-headers-3.10.0-693.11.6.el7.x86_64.rpm, kernel-tools-3.10.0-693.11.6.el7.x86_64.rpm, kernel-tools-libs-3.10.0-693.11.6 .el7.x86_64.rpm, kernel-tools-libs-devel-3.10.0-693.11.6.el7.x86_64.rpm, perf-3.10.0-693.11.6.el7.x86_64.rpm and python-perf-3.10 .0-693.11.6.el7.x86_64.rpm also need to be updated.
Karanbir Singh, a CentOS maintainer, recommends that all CentOS 7 users install patches as soon as possible and only try to notify as many users who have similar CPU vulnerabilities as possible.
