Since yesterday, numerous netizens have posted on X claiming to spot Fable 5 within the Claude interface; some even recorded videos verifying their usage, while others allege American users require identity verification to regain access, ultimately suggesting an imminent relaunch.
Anthropic Employees Confirm a UI Display Glitch
These viral posts quickly garnered widespread attention across the internet. Consequently, they prompted extensive discourse regarding its official return. However, an Anthropic employee quickly dampened this growing enthusiasm. They clarified the situation in a recent post on X. Users encountering Claude Fable 5 merely experienced a frontend display anomaly.
Anthropic has since rectified this frontend interface display error. Thus, individuals can no longer select the model for their interactions. Following this remediation, selecting the model yields a clear prompt. It states that Claude Fable 5 is currently unavailable for use. Therefore, the model remains entirely inaccessible for active utilization right now. This strict restriction applies equally to both American citizens and international users.
A Resurgence Might Still Be Imminent
Although the recent sightings were a malfunction, the model might resurface shortly. Recently, Amazon AWS reintegrated this specific model into its platform catalog. Previously, Anthropic instructed partners to delist the model following US export controls. Consequently, this recent reinstatement implies that Amazon is preparing for a launch.
Developers Must Continue to Wait
Nevertheless, an official and definitive launch timeline remains entirely elusive. Neither Anthropic nor Amazon has publicly divulged any novel information recently. As a result, eager developers must exercise continued and persistent patience.
