The Debian Linux project recently released version 13.7, the seventh security-maintenance update in the Debian 13.x series. This release chiefly remedies security vulnerabilities and known defects. Following its arrival, the Debian team also refreshed the installation media, so users can download the new image files and install the system directly.
This update does not alter the positioning of Debian 13, nor does it constitute a new major release. Nevertheless, it bundles 106 routine bug fixes and 107 security updates. The Debian project recommends that users of Debian 13.x upgrade immediately to the latest version, both to patch security vulnerabilities and to enjoy the best experience. Numerous Core Components Receive Security Fixes
Debian 13.7 mends security problems in several foundational software packages. Examples include a heap overflow vulnerability in alsa-lib, an arbitrary code injection issue in ansible-core, buffer overflow and out-of-bounds read flaws in dnsmasq, multiple out-of-bounds accesses and file-content disclosures in glib2.0, and buffer overflow and underflow vulnerabilities in glibc, among others.

The Kernel Stays on the Linux 6.12 LTS Series
The installer kernel of Debian 13.7 has been updated to 6.12.107+deb13, which still belongs to the Linux Kernel 6.12 LTS series. For now, Debian has not switched to the Linux Kernel 7.0 series, whereas Ubuntu 24.04.5 LTS has already adopted the newer kernel.
Debian 13.x continues to support the amd64, arm64, armel, armhf, ppc64el, riscv64, and s390x architectures. Debian 13.7 simultaneously refreshes the Debian installer, so users performing a fresh installation in the near future can directly use the installation image files that already contain the latest fixes.
